New Virgin liveried train enters service on East Coast

The first Intercity 125 train wrapped in Virgin Trains East Coast livery entered service this weekend.

The famous Virgin logo, with iconic red and white colouring, adorned the 8.30am departure from Edinburgh Waverley on Saturday following work at nearby Craigentinny depot to conduct body side repairs, painting and wrapping of the 11 car set.

Virgin Trains East Coast took over the franchise on March 1 when Stewart Signs managed a rapid interim branding of the fleet so as not to cause any disruption to services.

Work to wrap the Mark 3 fleet, known as 125s, in its official livery was undertaken at Craigentinny depot by Stewart Signs and all 14 trains are expected to be completed by October. Work is also underway to wrap the 31 Mark 4 trains, which are known as 225s, with 10 branded trains in service and the remainder due to be wrapped by November.
